Iowa Caucuses: Rick Santorum set to Surprise?

Is it possible that we could see a surprise coming from the Santorum Campaign? I don’t know but here are some interesting facts about Rick Santorum and what he is doing and has done in Iowa to date.

1) – Santorum is the only candidate to date that has visited ALL 99 counties in Iowa.

2) – Has held over 350 events in the state.

If you look at the latest Rasmussen Poll, Rick Santorum is tied for 4th place with Rick Perry. The poll also shows a slide for Newt Gingrich.

Santorum, who claims organization and message will make the difference, is also banking on a divide and conquer strategy.

“There’s really three primaries going on here,” Santorum said. “Ron Paul has his own primary, the libertarian primary. And (Newt) Gingrich and (Mitt) Romney are sort of the establishment primary. And I think there are three who are vying for the conservative mantle to go up against the Gingrich-Romney duo. And I think that I’m going to be the one coming out Iowa with that mantle.

“And if we can do that, then we’re off to the races here, and conservatives around the country, just like they’re doing here in Iowa, are going to start rallying around our campaign,” he said.

Sarah Palin: Will she or won’t she..You decide

So, who of you are extremely excited about the candidates for POTUS? I have a couple I do like and wish that they could get their act together and start climbing in the polls. But, with what we have in the top, not many are looking at the others.

I speak of Gingrich, Romney and Paul. The media is so honed in on them we don’t really get a sense of the others: Bachmann, Perry and Santorum.

I guess Mrs. Palin feels the same way as many of us.

In an interview over the weekend Sarah stated:

she was not enthusiastic about anyone in the current GOP field.

“I don’t think that the field has to be considered set today – set and locked up,” she said. “Even beyond Iowa I think there is time for more shakeup.”

Hmm….what could she mean? Does this mean that she would reconsider entering the race? I don’t know, but she also said:

“…..it’s not too late for someone to enter the Republican presidential race.  Things can still be shaken up.  These candidates had better remember that American voters do believe that character counts …..It’s not all about politics,” she added. “It is all about value and character.”

Hmm…..What do YOU think?

Newt to Pelosi: “Bring it!”

Well, well, well. The playbook for the lefties is slowly becoming clear. They have totally destroyed Herman Cain, who suspended his candidacy this past Saturday. Now they turn their heads to Newt Gingrich with “Princess” Pelosi leading the charge.

On Monday, Pelosi came out of the gate firing the first salvo his way stating:

“One of these days we’ll have a conversation about Newt Gingrich,” Pelosi told Talking Points Memo. “When the time is right. … I know a lot about him. I served on the investigative committee that investigated him, four of us locked in a room in an undisclosed location for a year. A thousand pages of his stuff.” (Source: The Hill)

Of course she is talking about when both she and Newt served together in the House of Representatives. She is also referring to when she served on the Ethics Committee that investigated Gingrich.

The Pelosi threat seems to represent a return to the Democratic strategy to try to bring down Gingrich with ethics charges, most of them bogus. The campaign that was waged during Gingrich’s speakership, was successful in weakening Gingrich to an extent and helped to lead to his resignation in 1998 after a disappointing midterm election for Republicans. Later in the day, Gingrich returned fire and dared Pelosi to “Go ahead! Make My day!” In a press conference he held after his meeting with “The Donald” Trump, he told reporters:

“I want to thank Speaker Pelosi for what I regard as an early Christmas gift,” Gingrich said at a press conference in Manhattan Monday. Gingrich denounced the threat from Pelosi, who is now the minority leader in the House, as “a fundamental violation of the rules of the House.” ( Source: The Hill and CNSNews)

In the meantime, others have come out against Newt Gingrich: Joe Biden and David Axelrod; but at this point I really don’t care to hear what any of them have to say…..I’m just looking for THE ONE to beat Obama in 2012.
